Marked Pou: V. MVL. in blue on the lower right corner of the reverse

Painted with a lady standing near a dog and two baskets of fish on the bank of an estuary, holding her child’s hand and pointing toward a nearby fisherman reaching with his left hand for the fish on the end his line and supporting a tall rod in his right hand, behind them a masonry tower building, figures bustling around the mast of a sailboat, and further buildings before a precipitous hill in the right distance, to the left beyond pilings in the foreground, figures in two dories row beside a sailboat with a further ship under sail on the horizon; the reverse glazed.
