The child wearing a blue cap over its hair, a blue and white cuffed white jacket, seated with both arms spread holding the rim of hexagonal chair with high yellow back, marbleized in yellow, iron-red and blue, the red edges are sculpted in relief, providing a raised and tactile border around the child’s chair.

NOTE
Small models of cradles, fire baskets and highchairs were commonly gifted to celebrate an engagement or a wedding (symbolic of the function of marriage and the wish for progeny) or especially a birth. They were probably made by a number of Delft factories over a period of many years.
