D2509. Large Blue and White Ovoid Chinoiserie Jar and Cover
Delft, circa 1670
Painted on the ovoid body with Asian figures at various pursuits in landscape settings within three quatrefoil panels separated by sprays of plantain leaves on a blue ground, the shoulder and lower body with scrollwork borders and the neck with a dentil border, the domed cover with four quatrefoil panels separated by foliage encircling a ball-shaped knop.
