• D1889. Pair of Yellow-Ground Dishes

Delft, circa 1765

Painted in blue on the yellow ground in the center with a garniture, below a large cuspidor flanked by two teapots and above a two-handled flared vase flanked by two smaller cuspidors, the border with five medallions depicting Oriental figures at various pursuits.

Diameters: 22.8 cm. (9 in.)

Provenance: The Collection of Mr. Vincent Dyckman Andrus (1915-1972), Greenwich, CT, former curator of the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York; and hence by family descent
