D1575. Pair of ‘Petit Feu’ Polychrome Small Figures of Cows

Delft, circa 1760

Each with a powdered pale iron-red hide, a black forelock, eyes, eyebrows, tail and hooves, yellow horns, an iron-red mouth and lapping tongue, and wearing garlands of iron-red, blue and yellow flowers and green leaves around her neck and back, one also with a gilt-centered blossom at the top of her back, and modeled affronté, standing on the green top of a flaring rectangular base with iron-red, blue and yellow C-striped sides.
