D1085. Pair of Polychrome Figures of Cows

Delft, circa 1765

Each marked with an axe in blue for De Porceleyne Byl (The Porcelain Axe) Factory

Each with a blue-spotted hide, blue-lined ears, yellow horns, iron-red and blue eyes, forelock and tail, an iron-red lapping tongue and blue hooves, wearing garlands of colorful flowers around her neck and back, and modeled affronté, walking amidst frogs, a snake, leaves and grasses on the green top of a blue chamfered rectangular base edged with yellow and iron-red bands.

Length: 18.1 cm. (7 1/8 in.)
