• D1458. Pair of Polychrome Honey Pots, Covers and Stands

Delft, circa 1760

Marked ITD/12 and 105 for Jan Theunis Dextra, the owner of De Grieksche A (The Greek A) Factory from 1757 to 1765, on the stands, one pot and cover numbered 2, the other pot and cover numbered 4, all in blue.

Each slightly tapering cylindrical pot formed as a horizontally-coiled beehive and the slightly domed cover overlaid with a blue-veined green leaf with a short brown stem repeated in high relief on the stand, its center reserved with a shallow circular well painted stem with blue-veined green leaves, the scalloped and barbed rim edge with a border of yellow demi-ruyi-heads decorated with iron-red scrolls and dots and alternating with green leaves below blue-dotted green panels.
